Rachel Morris is joining the Vegas Thrill as head coach in advance of the 2027 Major League Volleyball season. With a track record of identifying, developing and transforming players into efficient players, Morris is known for her ability to develop winning teams.
“As we relaunch Vegas Thrill, hiring Rachel as our head coach was one of the most important decisions we made," said Michael Landier, Vegas Thrill owner. "Her ability to recruit and develop talent were key considerations, but we also wanted a coach that wants to build a lasting legacy, and Rachel is the perfect choice.”
Morris arrives after helping transform Indiana University into one of the nation’s most dynamic offensive programs as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. During her four seasons with the Hoosiers, IU produced the most successful four-year stretch in program history, setting school records for wins and Big Ten victories while developing multiple All-Americans and one of the country’s most efficient offenses. Recognized as one of Volleyball Magazine’s Under 40 College Coaching Hotshots, Morris is widely respected for her ability to develop elite talent, build high-performing team cultures and innovate offenses.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a team with the backing of an experienced front office team, dedicated new owner and the incredible support of an entire city," Morris boasted. "We have assembled incredible talent from all over the world, and we are building this team to win!”
Vegas Thrill general manager Fran Flory noted, “Rachel is effective in building a winning culture, is widely recognized for her ability to develop elite talent, and has the vision to build a championship-driven team. We cannot wait for the season to start in January.”
In early August, the Thrill announced their relaunch in the Las Vegas community. Morris joins legendary team president, Ruben Herrera; general manager, Fran Flory and new owner, Michael Landier. The organization will announce the full roster, coaching and support staff, schedule, ticket information and community initiatives in the coming months.
The Vegas Thrill will return to Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson for the 2027 Major League Volleyball season.
