FRISCO, Texas (October 23, 2026) — Dallas PULSE, the reigning Major League Volleyball (MLV) Champions, have signed middle blocker Abby Akey to their roster for the upcoming 2027 season.
Akey, a 6-foot-5 middle blocker from Phoenix, Arizona, brings professional volleyball experience from both the United States and Puerto Rico. Most recently, she played for Leonas de Ponce in Puerto Rico’s Liga de Voleibol Superior Femenino during the 2026 season. A force at the net, Akey contributed both offensively and defensively, recording 266 kills and 78 blocks across 35 matches.
Before competing internationally, Akey spent two seasons with the Orlando Valkyries, helping the team win the 2025 MLV championship. Now, Akey brings her championship experience to Dallas as the PULSE prepare to defend their title in 2027.
Prior to her professional career, Akey played collegiate volleyball at University of Southern California (2018), the University of Oregon (2019-2021) and the University of Central Florida (2022-2023). At UCF, she earned first-team all-conference honors in 2022 and led the team with 127 blocks, averaging a conference-best 1.22 blocks per set in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Akey also earned her master’s degree in health care administration from UCF.
In the coming weeks, PULSE fans can mark their calendars for the 2027 MLV Draft on November 23, followed by the highly anticipated debut of the official Dallas PULSE mascot in December.
